Robin Traylor of Glenn Allen Virginia died peacefully at her home at Cedar Knoll Farm on April 26, 2025 surrounded by her family. She had been struggling and fighting for many years from asthma and COPD. With her strength and courage, she won many battles, but unfortunately finally lost the war. She is proceeded in death by her grandfather- Thomas, Jerome, grandmother- Donnie Jerome, father- Norman Zeno, mother- Alma Douglas “Dougee” Zeno, and brother- Christopher “Chris” Zeno. She is survived by her caring and loving husband of 53 years and four months- Clarence “Unie” Traylor, daughters: Michaela Burke (Douglas), and Jamison Bowes. Four loving grandchildren: Colby and Braiden Burke, Saige and Aaron Bowes, along with many other cousins, family members, former riding students, horse friends, and other friends. Robin was born in Madison Heights, New York, but grew up in Ashland Virginia and spent the last 40 years in Rockville Virginia. Robin attended Patrick Henry high school where she met her future husband in chemistry class and graduated in 1972. After graduation she attended Virginia Tech and received a bachelor’s degree in family and children development in 1975, furthering her studies in graduate school at Radford University in 1978. Robin was an active longtime member of Duncan Memorial Church in Ashland and Saint Matthews Methodist of Goochland Virginia. She participated in numerous church activities and was always an active choir member starting in her youth through adulthood. Robin became a certified EMT and volunteered for many years with company three, in Centerville, VA, driving the ambulance. After Robin was diagnosed with chronic asthma and COPD, she became a member of both Richmond chapters of the American Lung Association and the better breathers club helping find remedies and solutions for people with breathing problems. From hard work in both organizations, she was presented the Nora Spencer Hammer award for outstanding contributions in the prevention and control of lung disease in Virginia. Robin’s lifelong passion was the love of horses and people that love horses, she started teaching students at their homes and later at several local barns. Since 1983 she has been teaching, training, coaching, breeding and showing horses at Cedar Knoll farm. Several generations of many students have learned to ride from her teaching, along with many horses and ponies being bred and trained by her. Homebred horses and ponies have returned from local state and national shows with multiple championships. Her Virginia purebred ponies were tops in the state for many years. She has been a lifetime and longtime member of such horse organizations, such as Lance and Bridal horse and pony club, CHSA, BHSA, VHSA, and AHSA. She also sponsored an organized the local 4-H horse club in Hanover and is a lifetime honorary 4-H member. Along with 4H she taught and coached the inner school riding team every year for her farm. Many of her former students have become great and successful horse owners, ridders, coaches, and trainers. Robin’s greatest quote was “your life is your gift from God what you do with it is your gift to him”. Now we give his gift to us “Robin” back to God there will never be another gift so great! The celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
