Richard Cameron Cook “Rick”

 June 7, 1954 – July 8, 2025

Richard “Rick” Cameron Cook, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on June 7, 1954, Rick was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and went on to attend Virginia Commonwealth University. He was a deeply kind, giving, and thoughtful person whose life touched many.

Rick devoted his career to service and care. He worked as a counselor at St. John’s Woods, later joined the team at MCV, and eventually found his place with Henrico Animal Control, where his compassion for animals and people alike was evident every day.

Rick was known for his warm heart, quick wit, and sense of humor that could brighten any room. A lifelong lover of chess and poetry, he found joy in both strategy and self-expression, and his words and laughter live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved sisters, Kathy (and her husband Dickie) and Teresa (and her husband Jesse) his cherished nieces, Laura and Kate; his nephew-in-law, Chuck Addison; and his adored great-niece and great-nephew, Vivian and Thomas. Rick’s love for his family was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
