Walter “Joe” S. Martin Jr., 77, of Sandston, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025. Born on September 6, 1947, to the late Walter “Sparky” Martin and Elsie Pauline Martin. Joe lived a life marked by faith, love, and devotion to his family and community.

Joe was the beloved husband of Julie Martin, the love of his life, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He was a dedicated father to his daughters, Zoie Martin and Heidi Smith (Steve), and his son, Timothy Farrar (Ashley). His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren—Joseph, Noah, Chance, Dareiyon, Ethan, Everett, Emery, and Eli—and his great-grandchild, Camden. Joe is also survived by his sisters, Becky Goswick and Paula Glenn, both of Sandston, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold him in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anna (Peanut) and Margaret (Nina).

A man of deep faith, Joe was eternally grateful for his church family at Providence United Methodist in Quinton, Virginia, where he found strength and community. His love for God guided his life and touched those around him.

Arrangements are to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions or donations to Providence United Methodist Church or the Henrico Humane Society, New Kent Humane Society in Joe’s memory. Joe’s legacy will live on in the love and lives of his family and friends.
