Timothy Russell Holbert

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy Russell Holbert, lovingly referred to as Timmy.   Timmy died peacefully in his sleep on July 22, 2025, at the age of 36. He passed away at Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital, knowing he was loved.

Timmy was a son, a brother, a grandson, and a friend. His gentle spirit, quick wit, and thoughtful heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether through a quiet conversation, a shared laugh, or a kind gesture, Timmy made a lasting impact on those around him.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa Billy C. Clark, a renowned poet and author, as well as his mother Melissa Clark.  He is survived by his grandmother, Ruth Clark, his father, Bill Holbert, and stepmother, Kate Holbert; his brother, Ben Clark; his sister, Jodie McCoy, brother in law Chris McCoy, children Delanie (15), Gentrie (8) and Bud (5) as well as Nova, Mya and Lila who are in heaven with him now. His absence leaves a deep and painful void in the lives of all who loved him, yet his memory will live on in their hearts forever.

Timmy trusted the Lord Jesus Christ and was a witness for him.  His faith was the foundation of his life.  Timmy was active in his church and his recovery community. His relationship with Christ gave him a loving sense of purpose.

Timmy’s life was far too short, but his legacy is enduring. He will be remembered for his kindness, his resilience, his faith, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s challenges.  He loved fishing, music, cars and people.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family’s first request is that you take a young man fishing in his memory. Donations can be made in his name to The National Child Traumatic Stress Network.

Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing that Tim is now whole, healed, and at peace in the presence of the Lord.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
