Gail Elizabeth Howell Allison

March 17, 1952 – August 8, 2025

Gail Elizabeth Howell Allison, 73, of Chesterfield, Virginia, formerly of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025.

Born on March 17, 1952, in Davie County, to the late Harley Howell and Betty Howell (of Advance), Gail grew up in Mocksville, NC, alongside her brother Ricky Howell (Brenda) and sisters Lisa Anderson (Rob), Debra Dunn (Steve), and Gina Harrison (Jeff).

Gail was a proud graduate of Davie High School and went on to earn her nursing degree from Forsyth Technical Community College. She dedicated her life to caring for others, serving many years as an ICU nurse at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital and at Piedmont Dialysis in Winston-Salem. Her compassion, skill, and dedication left a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues alike.

A loving mother to her daughter Tonya Adiches and son-in-law, Tyrone, and cherished grandmother to Aniah Adiches, Jynae McRae, Preston McRae (Kate), and Naiteria Lewis, Gail was also blessed with five great-granddaughters.  She shared her home and heart with her beloved dog, Charlie Baby. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews, carrying joy for those who continue her story and keeping the memory of those who have gone before her as treasures in her heart.

Gail’s life was filled with simple joys—feeding and watching the birds and chipmunks, tending her flowers and plants, relaxing by the pool, competitively playing UNO with Aniah, and making memories with family and friends. She was a woman of faith and attended Crossover Church in Chesterfield, VA.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal services will be held. Instead, her family will honor her life in a private ceremony at sea later this year, where her ashes will be joined with those of her cherished pets who went before her.

In remembrance of Gail’s generous spirit, memorial contributions may be made to Crossover Church Missions, 8700 Baldwin Creek Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.  Donations may be made online by completing “give now” form at

https://onrealm.org/crossoverchurch/-/form/give/now, selecting “Missions”, and noting “Gail Allison” in the memo line.

Gail will be remembered for her caring spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the beauty she brought into the world in the lives she touched. Her family finds peace in the promise reflected by the life she lived, trusting that we will one day be reunited.
