Phyllis Wendel (Chalkley)

Phyllis Wendel (Chalkley), of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Elmore and Phyllis Lorean Chalkley, and by her husband, C.T. Wendel, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cheri Borkey; two grandchildren, Jacob and Maci Morrison; and three great-grandchildren, Jace, Hank, and Silas. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Robin Wilcox (Jake) and their children, Gunner and Cannon, and Brian Borkey (Amy) and their son, Haleya; as well as her stepchildren, Susan Wendel Dissee (Ronnie), James “Dickie” Wendel (Alicia), and Karen Wendel.

 

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Autumn Care in Mechanicsville for their wonderful care. A special thank you goes to her niece, Page Rice Davis, for always being there when Phyllis needed her.

 

Phyllis was an active member of Fairmount Christian Church, and the family greatly appreciated the constant check-ins—especially from Sherry Johnson.
