Virginia Colby
Virginia Colby passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply.
Virginia is survived by her children, Desiree Seay (Charles), Rylie Downey III (Tina), and Gerald Downey; her cherished grandchildren, Stephanie, Kaylynn, Raelynn, Chad, Kellen, and Kade; and her precious great-grandchildren, Landon and Miles. She is also survived by her siblings Marty Roberts (Terri), Diane Smith (Marty), Judy Walkoeiak (Leonard), Dennis Roberts, and Mary Elliott (James), along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Preston; her brothers John, Danny, and Gerald; and her sister Pansy.
Virginia had a heart big enough for everyone. She loved unconditionally and would help a stranger just as quickly as a friend. Those who knew her often say there are only happy memories—because that’s the kind of person she was. She spent many years managing a pizza restaurant, where her strong work ethic and generous spirit shined. Each Christmas, she cooked a full holiday dinner for everyone in the strip mall as a way to say thank you, turning coworkers and neighbors into extended family.
Virginia was truly the best cook and the heart of every family gathering. She cooked for every event and holiday, making sure no one ever left hungry. Her meals brought everyone together, and no one will ever replace her cooking—especially her famous mac and cheese, which will forever be remembered and missed.
A strong, hardworking woman, Virginia loved yard sales, time with her family, and especially spoiling her grandchildren every chance she got. Music filled her heart, and she had a special love for Elvis Presley. Whether his songs were playing in the background or bringing back memories, Elvis always made her smile.
Above all, Virginia was proud of her family and loved being a mom and “Gaga.” She was also a sister, aunt, friend, and boss who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her kindness, strength, and love will be remembered always.
Virginia will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
