Kaila Brown Stevens
Kaila Danielle Jan Brown was born in Plattsburgh, New York on January 1, 1977, the second child of William Rogers and Millie Rose Brown. At the age of 11 Kaila dedicated her life to Jehovah God, and was baptized April 23, 1988.
Kaila spent a good part of her early childhood in Okinawa, Japan, but eventually her family moved to Charles City, VA. Kaila was selected to attend the Richmond Governor’s School, which she attended until deciding to home school in order to spend more time in the field ministry, working toward her goal as a full time pioneer. She eventually met that goal, spending close to 30 years in the full time service.
Kaila married John Wesley Stevens IV on January 10, 1998. They had 28 fun-filled years of learning languages and traveling, with their focus on serving Jehovah God, even serving as full time ministers together.
She worked as a telecommunications agent, English tutor, dental and medical assistant and dog groomer, before she started her own business as a physical trainer, which she loved with a passion. She also loved singing and dancing. Kaila is survived by her husband John Stevens, parents William and Millie Brown, brothers Shawn Brown (Katina), Brandon Brown, nieces Millena and Syllena Brown, mother-in-law Laura Stevens, sister-in-law Jessi Stevens, uncle Samuel Stevens (Laurie), aunt Willie Walker, cousin/sister Karen Ausby (Kenneil), cousin *Kyra*,
and a host of other family and friends.
Kaila would want to thank all of her family and friends for the attention that she received during her prolonged illness. Your hugs, kisses, food, calls, visits, cards and texts were well received and much appreciated. The most helpful of all gifts were the many blankets. She regularly used every last one of them… at the same time!
There were periods during her treatments in which she did not have the energy or mental focus to answer her texts or to call and thank everyone. But she was grateful to have not been forgotten.
Most importantly, we are thankful for all of the prayers that were said on her behalf. We are certain that they had their good effects.
During her illness we were able to travel twice to Argentina and Brazil in order to support the Chinese congregations there. Until recently we were also able to continue to preach door to door in the full time ministry together.
Her faith increased along with her medical challenges. She read the Bible daily and anticipated the fulfillment of Revelation 20:12,13. I know we all hope to see her again. Resurrected and healthy.
As her husband I would like to say that it was my greatest pleasure to care for her. I loved taking care of her. I love her very deeply. She was a great friend, and I told her that often. We had 28 years of happiness, peace and friendship. I would do it all over again if we could.

Wow the most beautiful words read and truly embody who she was. She will be missed and we look forward to seeing her and hearing her sing. I loved sitting near where she was at the hall to hear her sing.
