Barbara Alston
Barbara Alston, 83, of Richmond, Va, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Laura Gertrude Anderson, brothers Benjamin and Larry Anderson, and son Jerome Alston. She is survived by Leward Alston, her children Janet Scott, Keith Alston (Darlene) and Annette Brown, brothers Leroy Anderson Jr (Niecy) and Craig Anderson (Sharon), sister-n-laws Romelia Alston, Eva Brown (Dwight) and Barbara Alston.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and joy that touched everyone she met. Known affectionately as Granny, Bee Bee or Big Momma, she was a vibrant presence in the lives of those around her. Her warmth, generosity and humor were matched only by her love for family and friends.
Among her favorite pastimes were picking berries, along with a love for flowers and plants, reading, crocheting and shopping at The Williamsburg Pottery. Barbara also found immense joy in the companionship of her dear friends, Frances (deceased), Beatrice and Barbara Hardy. Her bond with them was unshakable and their conversations, whether in person or over the phone, were filled with laughter and shared stories.
Barbara’s life was a tapestry of rich experiences and warm conversations. She was a source of wisdom and comfort, always ready to offer advice, whether solicited or not. Her family was the center of her world, and she was always delighted in the company of her eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and her devoted daughter-n-law, Darlene Alston, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Barbara will be greatly missed.
The Family would like to thank the staff at Parham Healthcare and Trinity Hospice, for their unwavering care and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Rest in peace sweet cousin!!
Granny gave me my first beer, it was non alcoholic, that was when she stayed off laburnum, her and Francis, before that she was the only way I would see grandma Gerdy she would always drop me off in Churchill, granny would bring food over the house when we stay in Essex village because times were hard with Annette raising three kids, I wish I still kept my blanket she knitted me it was blue black and grey, I would go over to her house and she get me to water the plants whether it was her house with Francis or her senior apartment she stayed in, we talk for hours and she tell me all the tv shows she watched we even got into YouTube episodes I didn’t get to say goodbye because I was too busy worrying about my own live running around tryna to make money I wish she was still here so I could have words with her through the phone and FaceTime granny you will always be loved and I heard your ashes are going into necklaces so their will always be a piece of you with everyone rest in heaven.
