John Russell Williams III

John Russell Williams III, age 91, died on May 11, at his home in Richmond, Virginia, after a long illness.

John was born on September 13, 1934, in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was the son of John Russell Williams Jr., and Margaret Ann Norris Williams. All 4 of his sisters predeceased him. 

He graduated from William & Mary, then served in the army after which he received a law degree from W&M  law school. The majority of his career was spent as a systems analyst for the Department of Defense, from which he retired in 1995.

John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Allison Summ Williams and three children: John Russell Williams IV (Russ), Margaret Anne Paine (Meg) and James Maxwell Williams (Max). He is survived also by 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday. June 24, at 2 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4103 Monument Avenue in Richmond.

John was a very private person who removed all address labels from his recycling. He was, in all things, a gentleman and a gentle man. He will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
