Judith “Judy” Ann Crumpler

Judith “Judy” Ann Crumpler, 76, of Powhatan, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2026. Born on October 23, 1949, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, Judy was the daughter of the late Ray and Rhoda Palmer.

Judy was the beloved wife of Robert Crumpler for 57 years. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering support for one another. She was a devoted mother to Robert “Bobby” Crumpler and Mary “Beth” Bruce (Kyle); a proud and loving grandmother to Faith Bruce (Mykah), whose accomplishments and happiness brought her immense joy; and a cherished sister of Michael Palmer (Sue).

A registered nurse for more than five decades, Judy was deeply proud of her profession and the opportunity to care for others. She was a member of the inaugural graduating class of the J. Sargent Reynolds School of Nursing in 1976 and dedicated her career to serving patients with skill, compassion, and professionalism. Nursing was more than a career to Judy, it was a calling that reflected her generous heart and commitment to helping others.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Judy found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand. She loved cooking for family and friends and expressed her creativity through knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, and sewing. A proud West Virginian at heart, Judy remained a devoted fan of West Virginia University athletics throughout her life and could always be counted on to cheer enthusiastically for her beloved Mountaineers, “Go ‘Neers!”

Among Judy’s greatest joys was her beloved miniature schnauzer, Lulu. The two were inseparable, and those who knew Judy understood just how much Lulu meant to her. Lulu brought Judy constant comfort, companionship, and happiness, and held a truly special place in her heart.

Judy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, strength, and dedication to her family, friends, patients, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of compassion, love, and service will continue to live on in the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
