James Earl Beatty
In Loving Memory of James Earl Beatty
On June 22, 2026, the world bid farewell to a truly good soul, James Earl “Jimmy” Beatty, who departed this life after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born on January 6, 1950, in Charleston, West Virginia, Jimmy graced this world with a spirit marked by an easy going spirit, resilience, and an unwavering love for family & friends.
Jimmy was the beloved son of Thomas V. and Bernice H. Beatty, who predeceased him, along with his cherished brother Paul Thomas “Pete” Beatty. The Beatty family was a close-knit one, and Jimmy carried the values instilled in him by his parents throughout his life. He was a man of integrity and warmth, always ready with a smile & an encouraging word.
Jimmy graduated from Charleston High School in 1968 and went on to attend Marshall University for two years. His professional journey was largely spent at McJunkin Corp, where he thrived in various roles, eventually becoming Office Manager before retiring. Jimmy’s colleagues remember him as a dedicated and compassionate leader, always willing to lend a hand or offer advice.
Jimmy was a man of many passions. A life member of the Charleston Boat Club and the Virginia Power Boat Association, he found peace and joy on the water. His love for the outdoors extended to running, where he proudly completed the Richmond Marathon, an accomplishment that spoke to his determination and strength. Tennis was another pursuit Jimmy embraced with enthusiasm, as a USTA member, he enjoyed playing with friends several times a week and found success in competitive events.
Above all, Jimmy was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Faith Salisbury Beatty, who stood by his side through all of life’s ups and downs. Together, Jimmy and Faith built a beautiful family, raising three sons who were the pride of his life: Brett (Alison) Beatty, Ethan (Janica) Beatty, and Alex Beatty. His legacy lives on through his four grandchildren, Clark, Ellie, Janora, and a soon-to-arrive Tommy, whom he eagerly anticipated meeting. He leaves his sister Carolyn (Jim) Macri who stood by comforting him in his final days. His Godson Rob (Rachel) Beatty & niece Kathy (Max) Beatty have always held a very special place in his heart.
A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held on September 27, 2026, 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Virginia Power Boat Association Clubhouse, located at 4051 Old Gun Rd in Midlothian, VA. It is a place close to his heart, reflecting his love for the water and the friends he cherished.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ascend Hospice, particularly Amy Terrell RN and Andrea Hanlon LMSW, for their loving care and support during this difficult time. Their compassion brought comfort not only to Jimmy but also to his family, who are deeply appreciative.
In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the memories of Jimmy’s laughter, his love for life, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
