Matt Amason, 50, of Richmond, VA passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Matt was the son of the late Floyd Amason; and is survived by his mother:  Rebecca “Becky” Harvell; Brother:  Adam Harvell; Sisters:  Jenny Stooksberry, Jessica Harvell, Rachel Harvell; and wife: Erin R. Shrader-Amason. He was loved by many extended family members his Uncle:  Boyd Amason; Aunts:  Bonnie Amason and Beth Hill; stepmom:  Leigh Amason; cousins:  Joey, Rebecca, Paige, Michelle; nieces, nephews, lots of friends, etc.…

Matt loved the Lord, served as a missionary in Nigeria, really enjoyed cooking and baking for others, spending time with his dog Polly and collecting video games. 

The family would like to thank all of Matt’s wonderful doctors, nurses and medical staff who took such good care of him over the years.  It was a team effort!  You are each a blessing, and we are so grateful and appreciative!

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 2pm at Ramsey Memorial United Methodist Church:  5900 Hull Street Rd, Richmond, VA 23224.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Ramsey UMC.
