Gordon “Scott” Burke
Always known as Scott, he was the son of Milton Lewis Burke and Marjorie Bertha Burke and born in Richmond Va. He leaves behind a brother Penn Burke (Victoria), children Catherine Potter (Jason) and Douglas Burke (Michaela), grand children Colby Burke, Benjamin Potter, Lucy Cate Potter, and Braiden Burke.
He lived life to the fullest and was doing extraordinary things and was always there to help his family and friends along the way. Following school he served 12 years in the US Navy, serving in Viet Nam on aircraft carrier USS America, also stationed in Jacksonville, FL, and Norfolk, VA as an aircraft mechanic. He learned skill sets that served him for the rest of his life, and also developed a strong love and passion for being on the water.
Coming out of the US Navy, he lived in Hanover County and then later moved to Deltaville where he was closer to the water. He had a strong passion for deer hunting in Hanover and Buckingham counties, he also hooked up with the BASSMASTER Club for a while.
Some of his jobs included working in high rise building construction, large apartment complex maintenance, home repairs and remodeling, snow removal business, tree removal and firewood services, owned and operated USA Towing, had a commercial fishing license with rockfish hook and line endorsement and crab pot endorsement, built piers and decks, did rip-rap, road maintenance and landscape activities. Scott could do anything and was always dropping what he was doing to help family and friends.
His love for pets was shown by the number of dogs named Pup-Pup, cats named Tiger, and his most recent best buddy called Toby.
Scott also had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and has been to Bike Weeks all around including the big one out in Sturgis. He frequently traveled around the US, the Caribbean Islands, various cruise ships and abroad and has a collection of time shares to visit every year.
The family is planning a memorial service in the future and when details have been finalized, we will share that information on the website of Richmond Coach & Cremation Service
