Barbara Jones

Jones, Barbara Borkey, 80, of Ashland, VA, passed peacefully on January 1, 2026.  She is survived by her grandsons Christopher Wells and Alexander Wells and her great grandson Leon Wells. She is also survived by her siblings Linda Durrett, Kenneth Borkey, Dennis Borkey (Lexie) and Sandra Hendrick (Ben) and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents David R and Gladys Coakley Borkey, her husband Wayne Jones and her son Raymond ‘Cotton’ Wells, Jr and her siblings Gladys Borkey Nichols, Arlette Borkey Southworth, David O. Borkey and Peggy A. Borkey.

She graduated from Patrick High School in 1964 and moved to Maryland for a few years before returning back to Ashland, Virginia.  She was employed at Home Beneficial until they moved out of state and then worked for Estes until she retired.  She also worked part-time at Peebles in Ashland for many years.  

The family would like to thank the staff of The Heaven at Sandy Valley in Mechanicsville, especially Nadine and Trinity Hospice for their support.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901(www.dementiasociety.org).
