Brenda Perkins Jarvis, AKA GMA,

born on October 12, 1953, in Blackstone, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 3rd 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Brenda was an amazing devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her children, Jennifer M. Ivey and Brandon A. Blankenship and Jeff Ivey, and her grandchildren, Kayli Ivey, Kyle Crews, and Brianna Cheek.

She also leaves behind the lights of her life, her beloved great-grandchildren, Masyn and Kamden, whom she adored beyond measure. Nothing brought Brenda more happiness than spending time with them and watching them grow.

Brenda had a passion for cooking and loved bringing people together around the table. She especially looked forward to Christmas each year, filling her home with snowmen decorations and holiday music. She found peace at the beach, enjoyed relaxing with the Food Network, and appreciated the simple pleasures of good food and time spent with those she loved.

Anyone who knew Brenda also knew how much she adored animals. Her granddogs and grandcats held a special place in her heart, and she loved spoiling them just as much as the rest of the family. They brought her endless smiles, comfort, and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rick Blankenship; her mother, Kate M. Perkins; her father, Lyle “Fred” Perkins; and her brother, Lyle Fred Perkins Jr.

Brenda will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love for her family, her gentle spirit, and always offering anyone around a cold canned soda or a bite to eat. While her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love she gave so freely and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Without a doubt, she is dancing in the Sky, enjoying the view of endless ocean waves. 

The family will honor Brenda’s memory privately.
