Charles “Nick” Denison Geer, Jr.

Charles (“Nick”) Denison Geer, Jr., 76, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, rejoined his mother and father in heaven on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on September 11, 1949, in Salisbury, Maryland, Nick was the oldest child of Charles and Mary (McCann) Geer. A proud alumnus of Randolph-Macon College, Class of 1971, he received a B.A. in Economics and Finance.

A lifelong athlete and avid sports enthusiast, Nick’s passion for multiple sports began at a young age and continued through high school. In college, he played varsity baseball and football; after graduation, he pursued a career in education at Varina High School, where he taught math and coached baseball, football, and wrestling. He then worked as a Distribution Manager at S.P. Richards before becoming an Operations Manager at the Supply Room Companies for 26 years and retiring in 2018. While he took great pride in his work, it was the relationships he cultivated that meant the most to him.

His quiet strength, unwavering support, and headstrong nature left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Well-loved by friends and family, Nick was known for his witty humor, often throwing in one-liners and easily connecting with people through his humorous demeanor. Though he highly valued his connections with others, he greatly adored his beloved golden retrievers, who he regularly found ways to bring into conversation.

Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary; sister-in-law, Maureen; his niece, Tiffany; and his two affectionate golden retrievers, Heidi and Molly. He is survived by his spouse, Diane; his three children, Jennifer, Brendan, and Heather; his sister and brother, Judith (John) and Everett; his step-child, April; his two step-grandchildren, Emily and Joshua; his loving dog, Anna; and numerous nephews, cousins, and a niece. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mechanicsville Animal Hospital or a local animal shelter in your area.
