Cynthia Parker Longerbeam
Cynthia Parker Longerbeam
It is with great sadness that the family of Cynthia Parker Longerbeam announces her passing on January 29,2026, at the age of 74. Born on January 19th, 1952, Cindy lived an active life filled with curiosity and adventure.
Cindy’s interests and hobbies helped define who she was. As a loyal graduate of Virginia Tech, she faithfully supported anything VT, especially the sports, specifically football, basketball, and baseball.
She was a proud Hokie!
Additionally, Cindy loved spending time with friends playing games, such as bridge, Bunco, and Mahjong . However, she was a happy Gigi when playing board games or card games and shopping with her precious grandchildren.
Amazingly, Cindy still found time to needlepoint beautiful pieces of art for all family members, leaving them with cherished memories and gifts. Also, Cindy’s curiosity led her and Dickie to many beautiful destinations around the world. Cindy was truly a woman of endless energy who lived life to the fullest.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, Richard (Dickie) Lee Longerbeam; her sons Stephen Corey Brown (Shannon) and David Curry Brown (Megan); her stepdaughters, Tracie Mathewes and Julie Chase (Michael); her grandchildren Taylor Brown, Delaney Brown, Patterson Brown, Francesca Mathewes, Makayala Matthewes, and Kate Chase; her brother, Walter Thomas Parker (Nancy); her nephews, Thomas Harrison Parker and Walter Bennett Parker; and her great niece, Amelia Alison Parker. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Henry Parker and Janice Lee Funkhouser Parker.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Cindy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21, at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 231 North Parham Road, Henrico, VA 23229
