Daniel Haden Barnett, 62, of Glen Allen, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on July 7, 2025. Dan or Danny, depending on which era of his life you met him, was a loving son, father, brother, cousin and friend who has left a hole in the hearts of many with his passing.

 

He is survived by his two loving children, Ashley Marie Barnett and Bradley Haden Barnett, his grandson, Caleb Daniel Barnett, his brother Ron Barnett (Julianne) and sister Julie Barnett Christopher (Rogers), as well as his nephew Corbin Barnett Christopher and nieces Cate and Carolynn Christopher. Dan was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Roy L. Barnett, Jr. (1998) and Bessie Lynn Haden Barnett (2018).

 

A lifetime resident of Glen Allen, Virginia, Dan spent less than nine years in his “country house” in Mechanicsville before returning to the home he grew up in, where he lived his final years. He was an avid and skilled hunter with a keen eye for scouting game and well known for his “deer room” trophies. He loved being on the water, in his boat, riding a wave on his surfboard, back flipping from rope swings and walking the beaches looking for sharks’ teeth and arrowheads. A thrill seeker with a love of motorcycles and extreme sports, he had a story for every adventure and a running joke about how many of his nine lives had already been used. On his softer side, Dan was a talented artist, a lover of cats, music, history and his mother always said he gave the best hugs.

 

Dan has left behind a lifetime of friends and fun memories to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he had renewed his relationship with within his final years. His family asks that you remember his legacy and live life to the fullest. Consistent with his wishes, in lieu of a funeral, Dan’s family will host a celebration of his life, at a later date.
