Doris Willis Yelverton

 

Doris Willis Yelverton, 98, of Glen Allen, Virginia, passed away on April 24, 2024, at home. She was born on July 2, 1925, in Laurel, Mississippi. Doris, lovingly known as Doris Ruth, Mother and Grandmother. She was a smart, strong, and caring woman of God, who was a Hero to some, but touched the lives of many. She would welcome you when you walked into the room by saying “Why don’t you sit down and stay awhile,” then proceed to tell you stories past by generations of her family and about her life. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, puzzles, genealogy, and vanilla bean ice cream every night. She was truly loved.

She is survived by her beloved children, Karen I. Carter, Candis N. Hanson, IvaRue H. Mezaache, Teresa D. Hanson, Roberta J. Apple, and Robert W. Taylor.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.  She was predeceased by her husbands, Jack Yelverton, Robert B. Taylor and Russell L. Hanson, parents, Candis N. Willis and Richard Willis.

May her gentle kind soul rest in “The Peace of Jesus”.

 

Services for Doris will be held at Richmond Coach & Cremation Services with visitation on May 2, 2024, from 1pm to 3pm. Flowers and all contributions in her name can be made to Lighthouse of The Blind or Alzheimer’s Association.
