James Curtis “Curt” Leavy II
James Curtis “Curt” Leavy II, 41, of Chesterfield, Virginia, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and dear friends after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Curt is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Catherine E. Leavy, and his cherished son, Colten T. Leavy, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his parents, Kimberly C. Dixon (Richard) and James C. Leavy (Lisa); his brother, Jeffrey A. Leavy (Jennifer); his stepbrother, Christopher Bennett (Elizabeth); and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness and generosity.
Curt was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert C. and Sandra L. Combs, and John N. and Jean M. Leavy. Step grandfather, William S. Bennett.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, on November 29, 1984, Curt possessed a heart that was as big as his smile. He was known by all who met him for his unwavering loyalty, infectious sense of humor, and genuine compassion. A natural giver, Curt never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. He believed in making a difference, and his selfless spirit left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
An avid sports fan and gaming enthusiast, Curt proudly cheered on the New England Patriots and the Washington Capitals through every season. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the boat, fishing with his son, Colten, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Whether surrounded by family, lifelong friends, or someone he had just met, Curt had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Curt graduated from Manchester High School, 2003 and earned a Bachelor of Technology, 2006. Throughout his career in retail sales and management, he built not only an impressive clientele but also lasting friendships rooted in trust, respect, and genuine care for others.
While cancer tested his body, it never diminished his spirit. Curt faced every challenge with remarkable courage, unwavering faith, and quiet determination. He was truly a warrior—steadfast in his love for the Lord, deeply devoted to his wife and son, and an inspiration to all who witnessed his strength. His faith carried him through his journey and now brings comfort in knowing he has been made whole in the presence of his Savior.
Though our hearts are broken, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, generosity, laughter, and love. Curt’s legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched, the friendships he cherished, the family he adored, and the example of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love he leaves behind.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hyles Baptist Church, 7220 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, Virginia 23832. A private family visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
