Kat Smith

Kat Smith was born on December 7, 1994 in Superior, NE, and grew up in Beloit, KS.  She passed away on February 19, 2026, in Henrico, VA at the age of 31.

She is survived by her father Michael Grennan of Kansas, her mother Rhonda Rucas of Texas and her sister Courtney Smith also of Texas, and many other extended family and friends.

She worked for Capital One as a software engineer and will be greatly missed by those who worked with her. She was very smart, creative, caring, and always kind.

She loved to see the cherry blossoms blooming, she loved the color pink, she loved all animals, especially cats. She loved to sit by the pond and watch the ducks and the sunset. She loved riding her motorcycle and seeing the sunsets at Libby Hill Park. She had a quirky, wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh.

Kat left this world far too soon, but the love, laughter and memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Kat was known for her vibrant spirit, kind heart, and the way she could light up any room with her presence. She had a deep love for life, her friends, and her family. Kat had a special way of making people feel welcomed, understood, and valued, and her loyalty to those she cared about was unwavering.

She shared a passion for the motorcycle community and cherished the friendships and family she built within it.  Kat’s adventurous soul, fearless personality, and unforgettable smile made her someone people naturally gravitated toward. Whether riding, spending time with friends, or simply enjoying life’s moments, Kat lived authentically and wholeheartedly. She had the courage to be different and to pursue her own path in life, and the biggest, kindest heart of anyone you would ever meet.

Kat will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey. Though her time here was brief, the impact she made will never be forgotten.

A Memorial motorcycle ride was held for her on Saturday, March 7, 2026 in Virginia, starting at Libby Hill Park and ending at the Tilted Kilt where her friends and family celebrated her life.

Kat had a loving spirit and a generous heart, and she loved animals. If you would like to make a donation in her name, please consider the Trevor project, your local animal shelter, or a charity of your choice.

Kat was a bright shining light in this world, and she will be forever missed.
