Kenneth “Kenny” Ray Stell
Kenneth “Kenny” Ray Stell passed away November 4th, 2025 at the age of 75, surrounded by loving family, laughter, and prayers. Kenny was a man who could do anything. Following his service in the Vietnam War, Kenny returned to Virginia to meet his wife of 51 years, Constance “Connie” Young. Together they traveled the world, went to concerts, served their community, and built a warm, welcoming home open to everyone. Kenny worked at Allied Signal for 35 years, was a member of the American Legion Post 284 and Chester YMCA. He ran a Karaoke business, earned a blackbelt in Karate, repaired coocoo clocks, operated multiple antique booths, and collected and refurbished vintage gas pumps. He loved listening to music, especially David Cassidy, the Monkees and the Beatles. Kenny and Connie also enjoyed escapades to Las Vegas and family cruises.
Kenny was a provider with a servant’s heart. He dearly loved his son Jason, and was “the best Papa ever” to his granddaughters, Cora and Emmy. When snow kept the girls inside, he brought a sandbox in the house so they could play. In the Summer, he made a travel pool, filling the truck bed with water and a tarp for the girls to swim around the yard. When a dog needed a family, Kenny took them in. When his mother, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law (“Junnie”) needed in-home care, Kenny stepped forward with compassion and resolve. He was a giving, thoughtful man whose sense of humor triumphed in the most difficult times.
Kenny’s legacy lives on in the many lives he has touched. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Norma and Paul Moore, his father Micajah Stell, his sister and brothers Barbara Jean, Leslie, Lee, and Paul. Kenny is survived by his wife, Connie, his son Jason (Amy), his grandchildren, Coraline and Emberly, his siblings Linda Hass, Mary Massey Chaney, Brenda Gray, Jimmy Moore, and Carlton Stell, as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him more than words can express.
A funeral service will be held 2pm on Sunday, November 16th at Chester Christian Church. Reception to follow.
This obituary is insufficient to summarize a man bigger than life. Kenneth Ray Stell is loved eternally.
The family thanks all of the VA Hospital therapists, physician assistants, nurses and doctors who attended Kenny with care and empathy in his last days.
To pay respects, the family asks that donations be made to Chester Christian Church.

Kenny was loved by my Mama, my husband and myself. I felt particularly close to him as he supported my musical interest and really gave me advice in other areas of my life at different times. He made us laugh uncontrollably 😆 lol. He was good at that too. Intelligent, witty and talented, Kenny was all around an impressive fella and he will be missed.
So sorry for the loss of a really cool, funny and genuinely good guy. I am very honored that you served our country, thank you for that and always willing to lend an ear when needed. You’re missed more than words can say.
