Mary Grace Gray

Mary Grace Gray, born on May 3, 1950, in Beaverdam, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, in Henrico, Virginia at the age of 75. 

 

Grace was the beloved daughter of the late William Eugene Edwards and Etta Louise Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Earl Edwards and William Edwards, her sister Laura Dale Waldren and her daughter Karen Strong-Jimerson. 

 

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Grace is survived by her loving husband John Gray Jr; her son Bernard Strong, Jr.; grandchildren Tony Strong (Alexis), Amber Williams (Jason), Madison Roach (Chris), and Cameron Bailey; great-grandchildren Kylie and Parker Williams, Riley and Axel Strong, Oaklynn and Austin Roach. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Turner (Claude); brothers Donald Edwards (Lydia), David Edwards (Christy), Kenneth Edwards, Mark Edwards (Tracy), and Scott Edwards (Lisa); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. 

 

Grace found deep joy in spending time with her family. She especially treasured family gatherings and the annual Edwards Family Beach Vacation in the Outer Banks—a tradition that brought generations together in love and laughter. These moments were among her most cherished memories. 

 

Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Grace was an active member of Oak Grove Wesleyan Church in Montpelier, Virginia. Her involvement in the church community reflected her commitment to service and fellowship. 

 

Grace’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with warmth and devotion. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held on October 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Wesleyan Church 16360 Woodman Hall Rd, Montpelier, VA 23192.
