Phyllis A. Uncapher
Phyllis A. Uncapher passed away on Saturday, August 09, 2025, in Midlothian, Virginia. She was 95 years old. Born on January 11, 1930, in her family’s home in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Phyllis was destined for the warm sunny climate of South Florida, never looking back. She settled in Pompano Beach for many years before moving across the state to her favorite home in Naples, Florida, with her husband Mark.
Phyllis was a lifelong enthusiast of water, from boating to waterskiing. She enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, and entertaining. Her parties cultivated many friendships and countless memories of good times surrounded by family and friends. Phyllis loved her many pets, lastly, Hughie.
Phyllis is survived by her loving daughter; Cynthia Westmoreland (Gene Benuzzi) of Midlothian, Virginia; her sister Beverly E. Lay: nieces and nephews; Jamie, Geoffrey (Hung), Douglas (Kristin), Suzette (Tony), Matthew (Laura), John (Madeleine) and Sally (Tony). Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald; and by her husband, Mark.
The end of any history is an artificial point of closure created and collectively accepted. A necessary simplification to make sense of the world. Phyllis will be sorely missed by all those who loved her.
Private celebrations of life will be held at later dates.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring are asked to donate to The Boys and Girls Club of America, www.bga.org or an animal shelter in your area.

Auntie Phyl was full of life and lived it well! She is a part of so many cherished memories for our family. Visiting her in her happy place in Florida was something we looked forward to❤️ She always welcomed us with her beautiful smile and twinkle in her eye, and a pup in circling about her ankles🤣

The whimsical little ornaments hanging from her kitchen chandelier.
Her margarita recipe!
Her “unbashful” use of butter!
Visions of her cooking in the kitchen.
Her Orchids and garden around the pool.
Her laugh and beautiful smile.
We loved talking about old times. She had a great memory and was always entertaining in her tales with her great sense of humor!
First Watch breakfasts.
Her sporting around town in her convertible!
Always, so many friends from all walks of life!
Our boating trip in the PNW when she was in her late 70s! She liked to bike, kayak, swim- she kept moving!

She taught Doug how to drive, pals from early on.
She was always sad to see us go… and we were always sad to go.
She was true to herself and lived it her way.
We were lucky to have had so many years with her… she is a gem, bright in our memories forever~
Our family loved Phyllis as a neighbor and friend. Her warm smile was readily available as were her kind words and good wishes. She is already very much missed.
Cynthia and I have been close friends for many years thus I had opportunities to spend time with her Mom, Phyllis. She will be missed by all who loved her and her fun loving spirit. ❤️
