Sharon “Sherry” Hunter Nuss

Sharon “Sherry” Hunter Nuss (nee Smith), age 79, passed away after a long illness on April 5, 2024, with her daughter, Lisa, and her loving husband, Richard, by her side.

Sherry was born in Darby, Pennsylvania on June 11, 1944, to parents Franklin H. Smith and Edna Hunter Smith.  Sharon spent her early years on the East Coast, and fondly recalled her time spent in Margate, NJ, and her love for Lucy The Elephant.

She met her husband of over sixty years in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and they married in 1960.  From there, they moved to Richmond Hill, NY.  Sherry spent many summers visiting family in Medford Lakes, NJ in her youth and decided she wanted to raise her own family there.  Some of her best memories during this time were playing tennis, working on floats with the Odd Couples, and spending time with her Medford Lakes friends and family.  She was a realtor and also worked with the family business, Nuss Construction.

Sherry moved to Medford, NJ, and created more great memories with her friends and neighbors. She opened up a home daycare so she could be home more with her family.

She enjoyed gardening, bowling, and trying new things, such as ceramics, macrame, and needlepoint.  She was passionate about home improvements and even did bricklaying when she decided she wanted to put a huge brick patio in the backyard.  In her later years, she loved to travel with her friends.

Sherry and Rich retired in White Stone, Virginia where she opened an antique business.  She enjoyed many days on the river, fishing and crabbing.

Finally, she relocated to Midlothian, Virginia where she enjoyed trips to Maymont, walks around the Swift Creek Reservoir, and trips to the community pools with her family.  She loved the Brandermill community and the wonderful friends she made in the neighborhood.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Richard Nuss, Sr., her children Lisa Nuss, Richard (Lisa Patrick) Nuss, Jr., Cynthia (Robert) Trinkle, and her grandchildren, Taryn (and family), Trace, Logan, and Jake.

Love to Richard and his family. Losing a loved is aways sad. But losing a spouse or Mom is the greatest of them all. Sorry for your loss. Sherry will be missed so much. Thank God for memories. Please remember that we love all of you and are here for you. Love Cathy and family

Sherry will not only be missed by her supportive family but also her forever friends. She was a very busy lady making sure you all had dinner for the Holidays. Couldn’t wait for her to come home from one of her adventurous trips to see all the photos and maybe even a souvenior. She was very social and unmistakenly witty. I will miss those comments. And also some of our journeys to never never land. I will ever miss you Sherry. My deepest regards to her family.
