Sheryl J. Woods
July 1st, 1950 – June 1st, 2025
Sheryl Johnette Edwards Woods, age 74, fought the good fight, and was joyfully welcomed into Heaven on June 1st, 2025. She was a cherished and loved Mother, Aunt, Nana, Great-Grammy, Sister, and a wonderful friend. Her loss is keenly felt by all who knew her.
Sherry, as she was known by those close to her, was born on July 1st, 1950, in Saco, Maine. She spent her childhood in Lyman, where she enjoyed berry picking, swinging, and sledding, among other happy activities. She completed her education at Kennebunk High School. She married in 1968 and was a wonderful wife to Robert E. Woods, with whom she raised their loving daughters. She learned how to bake, and loved hosting Tupperware parties, where she served her famous coffee cake. She loved to crochet and sew and made countless clothes for her daughters and their dolls. She made several lovely Christmas stockings over the years. Sherry primarily worked in retail, but she also babysat and did home health care for multiple years. Sherry loved to laugh and was affectionately known as a drama queen. One would often hear her say ‘Don’t touch my hair!’ or ‘You turkey!!’. Sherry, ‘Sherry Baby’, also loved to sing. After retirement, she spent many happy hours volunteering at her local food pantry, hosted by her church Redemption Outreach Center in Chester, VA where she made a loving impact on all. She loved to share the love of Jesus with everyone, and you could always count on her to pray for you, faithfully.
Sherry is survived by brother Duane M. Edwards (Valerie Edwards), daughters Esther L. Lane (David N. Lane), Amanda J. Sanford (Rick Sanford, III) and Jody A. Dyer (Robert S. Dyer), grandchildren Jacob M. Lane (Christy Struzzieri), Elizabeth R. Payne (Aaron Payne), Josiah D. Ledger (Joey Ledger), Rachel N. Billings (Chris Billings), and Heather L. I want to love like you did, unabashedly, sharing Jesus’ light with everyone. I’m so proud to be your daughter. I love you and miss you.
