Wesley “Bubba” Giddings Spain Jr
Wesley ‘Bubba’ Giddings Spain Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord on
November 7, 2025 after a long battle with Dementia. He was born February 27, 1942, in Richmond VA to Wesley G.
Spain Sr. and Etta Styles Spain. Wesley lived a life of fun, laughter and lots of love with his family and friends.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and devoted wife of 38 years, Cora Lee Spain, the love of his life and soul
mate.
Wesley is survived by his children, Lynn Underwood (Louis), Wanda Shackleferd (Terry), Earl Parrish (Joyce), Debbie
Rumsey (Chuck) each of which he loved dearly. His legacy extends to eight grandchildren, Jeff Underwood (Tara), Kasey
Newman (Lewis), Phillip Eike, Ashley Rodriguez, (Hugo), Victoria Ayres (Mark), James Rowe (Caylea), Krystina Parrish
(Mike), Brittany Parrish-Kelly (Matt). He was blessed with great-grandchildren, Victoria, Nicholas, Sadie, Rivers, Adyson,
Logan, Isabella, Caden, Kaylee, Rylie, Kayla, William, Thomas, Abigail, Elowen, Landree and great-great granddaughter,
Arianna. Wesley is also survived by his loving sister, Bette Gunderson (Arnold); long time friend Walter Styles and a host
of cousins.
Wesley was a veteran in the U.S. Army. He served for a time as a Special Police for Chesterfield County. He drove for
McLean Trucking and was a Supervisor for many years in Richmond and Winston-Salem. After giving up ‘life-on-the-road’
driving, he became Operations Manager for Styles Bi-Rite building friendships while serving many people in Chesterfield.
In retirement, he drove a local delivery truck for Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods combining his trucking and retail experience.
Wesley was never one to shy away from working hard and helping others in need.
The family would like to say a special “thank you” for the loving care given to Wes by Donna, Jiggs and Debbie through “A
Loving Heart Adult Home”. Also many thanks to Touch of Grace Hospice Jen, Sam, and Neveah along with previous
caregivers Linda, Tiffany, Beverly, Stephanie, Natalia, Evelyn, KeKe, Patricia, Jewel, and Taquita.
On Friday, November 14, 2025, the family will receive friends at Skinquarter Baptist Church 6900 Moseley Rd., Moseley,
VA from 11:00 am till noon with a service at 12:15pm. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Skinquarter Baptist Church in honor of Wesley Spain
