Bill Lupoletti – deep-listening music lover; keen analytical mind; WRIR co-founder; radio catalyst; revelatory dj; volunteer concert promoter; meticulous researcher; great story-teller; generous mentor; passionate advocate; accomplished investment manager; thoughtful investment advisor; Haverford College undergraduate; University of Chicago Booth School of Business MBA; Chartered Financial Analyst; published economist; forward thinker; devoted loving husband, brother, son, and friend; self-actualizer; optimist; six-plus year cancer patient; long-time Richmond community resident; born Queens, New York – died October 31, 2025 at VCU Medical Center North Hospital.
Bill hosted radio show Global A Go-Go on WRIR-LP 97.3FM from the station’s beginning: first via internet from basement studio; thereafter, once the station began transmitter broadcast, across airwaves and above ground; and rebroadcast by stations across the US and Canada. Global A Go-Go’s weekly intro: Oliver Lake’s declaration “Put all my food on one plate” and Joe Strummer’s song for which the show is named. Bill’s greeting: “Dobro došli!” His sign-off: “Remember … the future is unwritten.” Show mandate: “Music from around the world in the universal language of groove.” And Global A Go-Go’s mission statement: “Decolonizing your ears since 2005.”
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alyssa Salomon; his sister Claudia Lupoletti; brother-in-law Chris Pietras; niece Abby Sacks; sisters-in-law Claudia Salomon and Madeline Wasilas and their husbands Jorn Ake and Gordon Wasilas; nephew Aaron Wasilas. Bill was a member of a large, loving and joyous extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
